Meet Jen & Tim, or Sailing_Wheels, Dazcat 1500C owners and lifelong sailors
Sailing_Wheels, Jen & Tim, are currently documenting their journey with us here at Multihull Centre through a series of short videos, from first contact and initial design discussions, to the ongoing build of their new Dazcat 1500C.
So we decided to create this dedicated page where they can share their experiences, ideas and ambitions for their Dazcat in their own words and you can find out more about the process of a custom build.
Introductions and Early Stages
We’ve been talking for quite a long time and the Sailing_Wheels Dazcat build is well underway. Though we still haven’t met Jen and and Tim in person, we feel like we know each other quite well already (June 2026). But what is it that has given them the confidence to work with us from so very far away on their dream boat – the Dazcat 1500C?
We hope their videos will help to answer that, and the many other questions you might have.
As with all our clients, we are incredibly proud to be working with Sailing_Wheels on this exciting new build. A project that combines the classic Dazcat sailing experience, long-distance cruising and accessible design in a truly inspiring way.
Jen & Tim have spent many hours together on the water; cruising on Tim’s parents Allied Seabreeze, Destiny, racing monohulls, and active in the trimaran, Weta class. They are now returning to large boat sailing with aspirations for inclusive sailing in the world of cruising and (possibly) distance racing.
Jen is a pioneering disability advocate and competitive sailor whose work has helped make both sailing and technology more accessible to people with disabilities. Representing Team USA alongside teammate, JP Creignou, Jen won silver in the SKUD 18 class at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, a campaign that also led to her becoming the first woman with a disability to be named U.S. Sailing’s Rolex Yachtswoman of the Year. She is also the co-founder of the Warrior Sailing Program in the United States. Her work has consistently focused on one simple but powerful belief: that freedom, independence and adventure on the water should be available to everyone.
After a snowboarding accident in 1998 left her with a spinal cord injury, Jen rebuilt her life around innovation, resilience and adventure. Beyond her achievements on the water, she became a leading advocate for neurotechnology and accessibility, co-founding the non-profit Neurotech Network and speaking internationally about inclusion, accessibility, and adaptive technology.
Tim is a lifelong sailor, growing up on the water racing a Sunfish in his youth to sailing larger boats later in life. He has spent many hours on the water not only sailing but on powerboats. He is now retiring after flying for NetJets for 25+ years.
