About the D1495
The Dazcat 1495 was developed from our experiences of extreme weather conditions competing in offshore events like the Round Britain & Ireland and Fastnet races, which our boats participate in regularly. Ultimately, we design cruising boats to enjoy sailing; however, we test and promote them by racing to prove their sea worthiness, performance and strength. So, the Dazcat 1495 is designed to be sailed by a family or a group of friends who love the exhilaration of sailing a fast, responsive multihull, but also want to go cruising and relax comfortably.
The self-tacking jib makes it very easy to control – perfect for single or short-handed sailing. Having a high-performance catamaran allows you to enjoy a larger cruising ground and gives you a greater choice of destinations, whether weekend sailing or cruising long distance. Passage times are reduced, less motoring is required and, even in the light winds of summer, the Dazcat 1495 will sail fast, maximising your enjoyment on board.
This champion among Dazcats has also shown her worth again and again in both inshore and offshore racing, repeatedly bringing home the trophies.
Our carbon spars, rudders and daggerboards are built in-house for all our boats. You have the choice to add more equipment to your boat; options range from generators and air conditioning to the choice of carbon or aluminium mast and sail configurations. The rudder T-foil option can help to reduce the pitching motion in short seas and improve overall performance.

How would you sail your Dazcat?
This video is the same D1495, now Prismo’. Her 2nd owners and their cruising liveaboard dog have learnt to sail on this boat. After two years of learning the boat and confidence building thay have headed off for South Africa.
What I like about this boat is that you get the performance package that comes with some of the special monohulls, but with the comfort and luxury of a large catamaran. You get the best of both worlds – they’re very comfortable and all the systems are easy to operate. You can comfortably sail with just two, three or four people.
Alex Thomson giving commentary at the 2019 Fastnet Race multihulls start (4min 45 sec) after focusing on the Ultimes:
“Imean, it has to be said that these other multihulls, they’ve still got a fair bit of pace haven’t they? They’re sort of racer-cruiser multihulls…GB1 11 over there, Apollo, Nigel. That’s Dazcat 1495 and um, look at all the Dazcats here! Amazing pieces of kit. I mean, most of the boats in this race will be racer-cruisers but but, I think if I had to choose a multihull to do one on and not get wet and go fast…I think I’d be choosing a Dazcat!”
