Dazcat 1195 Rock Steady gets VPLP naval architects’ seal of approval!
Dazcat 1195 Rock Steady, launched in 2010 spent most of her life until recently gently cruising the UK West Coast.
After being sold to a French Syndicate duo in 2010 she has just converted to become race ready and is already collecting some admiration on the other side of the channel!
Naval architects VPLP France have desiged some of the worlds most innovative race boats, many of which currently hold world speed records. So when Dazcat Catamaran 1195 Rock Steady had her photo taken from the VPLP offices of course we were delighted to hear the words “the architects found the boat very successful” Big smiles all round here at Dazcat!
The Dazcat 1195 is a true convertible, desirable on both sides of the channel and the Atlantic!
The Dazcat 1195 is probably our most popular from the Dazcat catamaran cruiser-racer range. That could be down to their true versatility. We know very well that one size definitely doesn’t actually fit all, so with that in mind we go out of our way to make sure our boats can easily adapt and change along with your life changes, or even for new owners.
The 1195 fleet is certainly spread far and wide with one on the US East coast, two now in France (Merlin will be launched later this year) and two in the UK – one returned from wintering in the Canaries and currently planning more expeditions further afield…They’re also exceptionally versatile…last year Sueños, who has always been a racer, fitted a washing machine, freezer, water maker, new solar pwered lithium battery system and other liveaboard necessities, and off she went. Cruising to racing or racing to cruising? It’s getting to be quite a trend!
Dazcat 1195 Rock Steady is the latest to join the growing trend of Dazcat conversions. In Rock Steady’s case it’s a change from a lifetime of cruising…Originally fitted out with a 15m Aluminium Seldon mast she’s now sporting a 16m Carbon Chimney mast and North 3di sails. She’s looking stunning. Ready for some racing by any chance Rock Steady?
One of the partnership owners, Raphaël, tells me they haven’t yet firmed their plans for the season but are hoping to take part in the Armen race, the Tripatte and the Multihull Trophy.
All Dazcats are built to perform. How much performance you want to tune it to is down to you, the owner – it’s simply a question of rig and sail choices and decisions around additional weight of appliances, ‘toys’ or other kit. This not only ensures that your boat can adapt along with your needs, but also maintains its resale value as you aren’t constrained by a specific market niche.
Dazcats Racing in France on the Armen Race
We had a great time with a few of our Dazcats in the Armen race in 2016 & 17, but we haven’t been able to go for a couple years due to calendar clashes. But, we’ve heard a rumour that D1150 Bare Necessities may be heading that way…Bare Necessities has recently given up a lifetime of full seasons on the race circuit to spend most of her time cruising. Owners Bruce and Alison have been regulars on the race scene since they bought her in 2015 but last year they disappeared to cruise in Scotland and we hear that this year they are off to cruise in France, possibly via a quick race on the Armen! It would be great to see a couple of Dazcats back there again!
