Multihull v monohull. That recurring question that has most of the yachting community firmly divided into one camp or the other. Stereotypes, biases and outright discrimination are bandied about freely by both sides. I get it. I really do. I was a monohull for most of my life. Multihulls, catamarans especially, barely even registered…until I sailed a Dazcat.
Dan and Kika from Sailing Uma finally find a catamaran ‘built for sailing’!!
Dan and Kika from Sailing Uma capture that ‘Oh my goodness!’ experience perfectly when they join Simon and Matt Baker on board Dazcat 1295 Slinky Malinki for a sail from Cowes to Plymouth. With the wind gusting at over 30 knots Dan and Kika are treated to a full Dazcat joyride down the southwest coast. Without question it’s pretty lumpy and breezy for a first fast sailing catamaran experience and any followers of Dazcat will know that the Baker brothers take no prisoners. You can see it all takes them a bit by surprise initially, but they soon start to find the pluses. If you’re currently in the monohulls camp, or even on the side of some of the more common charter type multihulls, we definitely recommend you watch the video they made of their sail on board the Dazcat catamaran 1295!
