Welcoming the new Landau Launch to our hybrid/ e-propulsion power range
We are excited to introduce what will soon become the latest addition to our production fleet of pedigree Cornish powerboats. This time it’s a trimaran, the Landau Launch, and we’re taking to the opportunity for some R&D as we continue to work towards more sustainable production methods and boat usage… We’ve bought the tooling from the superb Winchester Yachts, as they have become too busy to fulfill orders.
Click the Blog post below to find out how this came about and our plans for ongoing development of this stunning boat.
Meet the Landau Launch. We are very happy to announce that Multimarine Manufacturing will now be producing the Landau Launch designs at the Multihull Centre and working with Winchester Yachts. When a boatbuilder wants to buy a boat for his dad but... Why a...
BACKGROUND AND HISTORY OF THE BOAT
Designed by David Thomas, one of the UK’s most prolific yacht designers, the unique Landau ‘twin tunnel hull’ form provides:
- Typical multihull form stability.
- Low wash characteristics from the wake swallowing twin tunnels.
- Zero weave at slow river speeds unlike deep v hulls.
- Smooth and early transition from pickup to planning speeds.
- Fuel saving efficiency.
- Generous freeboard for unrivalled security at sea.
In 2012 The Landau Launch Company took this ingenious hull form and applied it to two production cruising motor launches, the Landau 20 inshore weekender and the Landau 29 offshore cruiser. They were built under the critical supervision of Peter Thomas (the designers son) by his main interest, Cornish Crabbers. The spectacular performance of the Landau range is combined with a world famous reputation for build quality. Multimarine have now taken on the build and we plan to further enhance the performance and will reveal the new hybrid electric version next year.
This is a new venture for Multimarine.
All technical information and images on this page refers to previous/ legacy versionsof the Landau. As explained above, we’ll be working our Multimarine magic to bring additional benefits including hybrid and electric propulsion and hope to launch production in 2022. We will be releasing updates and information as we have it and please, while we’re in the R&D phase, feel free to talk to us about your ideas or experiences.
For everything from picnics to coastal weekending for a couple, the Landau 20 covers all the bases. A large cockpit can accommodate 6 adults for day cruising with the option to sleep over for 2 adults. With the correct engine choice speed is never an issue. With river work easily achievable with 30hp and coastal cruising best utilising 90hp+ the max 110 hp will give a thrilling performance of over 25 knots. Maybe the most noticeable characteristics from the hull being very low wash at river speeds and an amazing easy transition from cruising to planing speeds.
